Findings from the TIMSS 2019 Problem Solving and Inquiry Tasks Released
Findings from the TIMSS 2019 Problem Solving and Inquiry Tasks has been released. The report presents achievement data for four innovative Problem Solving and Inquiry (PSI) tasks that were developed as part of TIMSS 2019 to examine how computer based assessment could be used to improve measurement. At fourth and eighth grades, approximately 30 countries and 20,000 - 22,000 students participated in this effort to use dynamic interactive features to make the assessments more engaging and to explore new ways of capturing students' responses. The report also includes initial analyses of process data to describe students' approaches and timing through the tasks. Additionally, the TIMSS 2019 International Database has been extended to include the achievement and process data from the TIMSS 2019 PSI tasks, encouraging researchers to conduct their own analyses.
